Leading into the UFC 127 event last night was the BAMMA 5 card from the MEN Arena in Manchester, England. The card was headlined by two fights featuring a couple of big names with possible big plans awaiting them should they win.
Unfortunately both Paul Daley (400 grams) and Ricco Rodriguez (2lbs.) showed up to the party a little overweight. Though their fights did go on, the Paul Daley vs. Yuya Shirai welterweight title fight was changed to a non-title bout.
The main card saw four fights, shown in the UK on SyFy and everywhere else on a PPV stream at www.bammatv.com. Now let’s check out how the night’s action played out and the reaction that follows the result.

UFC 126: Silva vs. Belfort Results and Recap
The highly hype UFC 126 is now in the books and while it’s tough to live up to the hype, it was damn close. Live from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada five former champions stepped into the octagon tonight.
When it was all said and done the UFC gave fans 10 or the 11 fights between the PPV, Spike TV and Facebook. Sorry Mike Pierce and Kenny Robertson guess the UFC wanted to leave one fight on aired for the upcoming DVD.
The undercard got things started off with a bang as the first three fights ending via within the first two rounds via KO/TKO. In the Facebook bout, Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson looked great tonight and spoiled the debut of Norifumi Yamamoto with his great speed and wrestling.
The spike TV portion of the card saw Chad Mendes completely dominate Michihiro Omigawa for a unanimous decision to open things up. The final bout of the undercard had Donald Cerrone shaking off a slow start to submit Paul Kelly and win the submission of the night.
The main card was five good fights, worth of the PPV cost, but it was two fights that really made the night.
Jon Jones handed Ryan Bader his first loss with a second round submission that earned him both the submission of the night and a title shot. In a shocking announcement Joe Rogan told us all that Rashad Evans blew out his knee and offered Jones the title shot at UFC 128 against Maurico Rua.
In the nights main event Anderson Silva made everyone’s jaw drop to the canvas as he dropped Belfort to the canvas with a clean front kick to his jaw. The two fighters were filling each other out for most of the fights until a flurry of action that ultimately ended with the knockout.

UFC 129: Nate Diaz Will Stay at Welterweight to Face Rory MacDonald
The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black belt under Cesar Gracie, Nate Diaz will be back in action at UFC 129 on April 30th in Toronto, against Canadian Rory MacDonald. The Season five winner of “The Ulitimate Fighter” where he fought as a lightweight, Diaz will make his third official appearance at welterweight.
Diaz (13-6) moved up in weight after losing three of his last four at lightweight, he was 6-3 overall in the 155 division. Since moving up he has fought three times (one at catchweight), winning his first two bouts against Rory Markham and Marcus Davis. In his last bout he faced the Korean born fighter Dong Hyun Kim at UFC 125, where he was out muscled and lost a unanimous decision.
MacDonald (10-1) is coming off a disappointing ending in his fight with Carlos Condit at UFC 115, where he was controlling the fight until Condit stopped him (Via TKO) with just seconds left in the fight. Macdonald also used to fight at lightweight before making the jump to welterweight and is the former KOTC Canadian and World lightweight champion.

Strikeforce Challengers 13 Main Card Results
The first Strikeforce card of the year is in the books and it had a little bit of everything on the televised portion of the card. Headlined by a welterweight showdown between the undefeated Tyron Woodley and Tarec Saffiedine, it was the female fight that stole the show.
Amanda Nunes needed only 14 seconds to finish off Julia Budd and send a statement to women’s middleweight champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos. With little fighters waiting to step in with Santos, Nunes just might be the one for the job.
